THE OPPOSITION...
When Radio Invicta came on the air in the 1970's, FM radio was a relatively new technology.
Pirate stations had previously been operating only on Medium Wave or 'AM' as it's known now.
The London Posts and Telecommunications department was headed by Eric Arthur Gotts and a team of investigators
who had a reputation for heavy handed tactics.

Following several raids and court appearances, the Post Office became well known to Invicta. William Leslie Crow or 'Jim' as he was known, was one of the
less violent investigating officers who had some sympathy for pirates. Often he would raid the station but not apprehend any of the operators, being satisfied
with confiscating the transmitter.
