SETBACKS...

Radio Invicta was an illegal station broadcasting with a powerful transmitter. It wasn't long before the Ministry Of Posts and Telecommunications raided the station and tried to close it down.

The station was raided many times, one of the first being on Whitsun Bank Holiday, Monday May 29th 1973.

The Post Office tracked the station to Mitcham, but were unable to gain entrance to the studio premises. They left - but a summons was served some months later.

Following another raid in 1973, Invicta was prosecuted. Post Office officials carry the transmitter into Thames Magistrates Court

THE FINE FUND....

Following several prosecutions, the station faced closure due to a lack of money. A fine fund was launched - listeners were asked to contribute. The station also operated a disco and outings to Soul Music Festivals to raise cash.
