Radio Invicta was not the only land based pirate in London. Others were Radio Jackie, London Music Radio and Aquarius FM

Radio Invicta took up a huge slice of my life in my teens and early twenties. Some might say it was a waste of time (and money). In retrospect it probably was, however it gave me confidence to build a career in the media - not as a Soul Music DJ, but as a writer and broadcaster on the subject of technology.

These pages have been written to gauge interest in this subject. Do you think I should write an illustrated book on the topic? If so please email me and let me know.

Steve Walsh was a club DJ that joined Invicta. He went on to appear on Capital Radio, County Sound and BBC Radio London.

He also recorded 'anthem' versions of soul/disco hits - such as 'I Found Loving' - and coined the chanting catchphrase 'You Wot !!!'

Sadly, Steve's life was cut short. He died aged 22 following injuries sustained in a car crash in 1988.

In the early days, Radio Invicta used to receive phone-in record requests at these public call boxes. Their telephone numbers were 648 3079 and 648 4512
